Outdoor Adventure

You ask, “What Is There To Do in Fond Du Lac this summer ?”

| August 18, 2017

The definition of summer . The warmest season of the year, in the northern hemisphere from June to August. In many terms that means for us in the Northern climates, is that we have to cram a whole lot of warm summer fun, in just a few months. We look forward all winter for those wonderful days of summer bliss, sitting outdoors basking in the sun, absorbing as much vitamin D as we can, and enjoying every last minute of the warm weather, until the sun goes down and the evening lights appear. The weekends are filled with never-ending plans of swimming, fishing, road trips in your car, to wherever the food and music is good . We plan our next trip to the Farmer’s Market, to the next Tour Of The Town Art Walk, to the next Dock Spider’s Baseball Game. There are also Producer Dinners at LaClare Farm, where a multi-course meal is created using locally sourced ingredients, paired with a local brewery or winery. There is outdoor music on the patio at Jim and Linda’s Supper Club, and music at Thelma Sadoff Center For The Arts.  If you like ice cream there is the Galloway House & Village Annual Ice Cream Social and Kelly’s Country Creamery. To burn off all of those ice cream calories you could do Race The Lake Century Ride which is a 100 mile bicycle race around Lake Winnebago, full of scenic diversity and enjoyed by all abilities from professional to the beginning cyclists. There is also the well know Loop which provides a bicycle ride around the city that is marked with mile markers. You can feel good about yourself when you see how far you have biked.  Most people enjoy a variety of different foods that can be found at Taste of Fond du Lac in our own Lakeside Park. Food will be featured from area restaurants, and also food trucks, live music, beer and a wine garden. And least we forget a Family land for the children. The city has provided walkways alongside the lake so you can get some exercise or just sit on the benches and take in the view. If this isn’t enough, there are surrounding lakes where you can picnic, swim and enjoy family time.  Our area has many different activities for everyone and every age group to enjoy. If you have any spare time left, there are also Volunteer opportunities available with a selection of options to choose from. Hopefully by the end of summer, if you have gone thru the warm season, the hot season, and the dog days of summer, you have succeeded in having the best summer ever.
